Here's the link to the Wall Street Journal story, which broke the news.

Okay, here's the question now: I've been very frustrated with AT&T's network since I first bought the iPhone (going back to my iPhone 3G purchase). However, many blame the deluge of iPhones on AT&T's network as causing the coverage issues. They say that AT&T underestimated the demand for the iPhone and didn't have a strong enough network to support so many iPhones. So, do you think Verizon will run into the same problem?

    A. Hopefully they've learned from AT&T
    B. Now it will spread out the users and smartphone usage/data usage
    C. I think CDMA is able to handle larger loads than GSM

Hope so, cuz I'm switching back to VzW as soon as the iPhone is released...

In my area AT$T has stated that they will not add anymore towers near my home so my problem is not the number or amount of people on the network but the lack of coverage.
VZW network will not be as fast as AT$T at first, However may get better coverage.

Isn't verizon working on a 4g? Or with a different name? The next iPhone would almost have to be 4g or I would be very disappointed.

I agree that this won't be 4G. Apple isn't going to do 4G until its well established.

4G would be nice, but I'd settle for not dropping calls in heavily populated areas within sight of 4 cell towers.
