    AppleCare Plus snafu

Apple and/or the carriers have dropped the ball on this one. The carriers don't have the ability to add AppleCare Plus, which now includes coverage for accidental damage. I preordered at the Verizon store since I had to add a non-iPhone line to my account. Apple's website says you have to buy AppleCare Plus at the time of purchase. I called Apple and was told that I'll have to go to the Apple store after the new iPhones arrive to add it. You can't do it over the phone. The CSR told me I have a year to add it, which I hope is correct, since it contradicts what the website says. UPDATE: APPARENTLY IT'S ACTUALLY 30 DAYS AND NOT A YEAR PER THE ARTICLE IN THE NEXT POST.

on sprints online order system, i went and did a pre order for the 32gb 4s. sprints TEP protection is not compatible with the iphone so there is a option when you are ordering the handset to add the 99 dollar apple care, so sprint has this on their system.

i know this is of little importance to you since you are on another carrier, i just wanted to state that ONE of the carriers got it right it seems..

i admit this apple care business has a lot of sprint users slightly confused..

I'm glad you got that option. Was it the old AppleCare or AppleCare Plus? The Plus is new and adds accidental damage coverage. Based on another posted article at TUAW, some people who preordered from Apple directly didn't get that as an option.
