  1. Ever wonder which ISP gives you the best streaming video for Netflix?

by on 02-09-2011 at 09:47 AM (Convergent Thoughts)
Netflix is a service that we use in our home regularly and have been very happy with. Its quality is generally really good and I think we have about a dozen different devices that support it. As I continue on my quest to cut the cord from cable, Netflix has been at the front and center of my strategy. Netflix has now published on their tech blog their findings on how the different ISPs perform in delivering sustained video. Check it out at http://techblog.netflix.com/2011/01/...-networks.html

  2. Looks like the higher speeds from Time Warner is getting closer...

by on 01-30-2011 at 11:18 AM (Convergent Thoughts)
I just received this email... lets hope it means faster Roadrunner is nearly here! It also really has me wondering if they are going to lift the upstream caps on existing Roadrunner and Roadrunner Turbo. That would be grand.

    Dear Customer,

Over the next several days, Time Warner Cable will be upgrading its Digital Home Phone and High Speed Internet delivery systems. We're excited to say that this upgrade will enable us to offer even faster Internet speeds and improved reliability in the future. Look for more information on new speed offerings soon.

All necessary work will be performed at night between midnight and 6 am in order to minimize the potential for service interruptions. During this time you may experience a brief loss of Road Runner High Speed Online and/or Digital Home Phone service. Once the upgrade is complete, your service should be operating normally.

If your modem is not working properly after the upgrade, please follow the steps below before calling Time Warner Cable.

    1. Make sure your computer is turned completely off.
    2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the cable modem or from the electrical power source/outlet. Make sure you are unplugging the modem power cord and not the round coaxial cable that has a threaded screw tip.
    3. After waiting approximately 30 seconds, reconnect the power to the cable modem.
    4. Wait another minute to allow the modem to acquire a signal or reconnect.
    5. Then restart your computer. The modem connection light will be solid.
    6. Attempt to surf to two web pages to verify good connectivity.

If this does not resolve your Internet connection problem, please contact customer service.

We appreciate your patience as we take steps to serve you better. Please call 1-800-892-2253 if you have any questions.

Thank you for being a Time Warner Cable customer.
