• Playbook 2.0 delays confirmed by RIM

It looks like the challenges for BlackBerry maker, RIM, continue. The latest blow is the recent confirmation that the update to their tablet, the BlackBerry PlayBook, won't get it's much anticipated OS update until February 2012. It appears they are faced with difficulties in getting their native apps like email and BlackBerry Messenger working on the new version of the PlayBook.

In another of their big pile of setbacks is the announcement that BlackBerry Messenger will not be included as a native app of the the PlayBook OS 2.0, but will come sometime later. They did confirm however, that BBM would still function when a BlackBerry smartphone with a data plan is connected to the PlayBook via BlackBerry Bridge. This solution is still a bit clunky to simply have BBM working on the PlayBook, but it will have to do for now. Here's hoping that RIM's latest string of bad luck is over soon.
