Bluetooth Personal Area Network (for use in internet connections) on Android phones
Hi, I'm thinking about switching to an Android phone and can't seem to find information on how I can set up a bluetooth PAN to tether my phone to my computer.
I'd like to use my phone to connect my computer to the internet with bluetooth instead of connecting using USB. Does anyone know how to do this type of connection or whether it is even possible?
The reason I'm asking is that I don't want to use USB b/c doing that wore out my USB connector on my old/current phone. I don't want to have my phone act as a wifi emitter, b/c it eats up more juice than bluetooth and is visible to my neighbors even if it is protected by a password. Thanks
Not sure about bluetooth but my HTC sensation (and most HTC's I believe) simply has a 'Wi-Fi Hotspot' icon. When activated anybody can connect to it using whatever password you choose and surf the internet using the 3g connection of the phone.
I've used it alot and it works so well that if you ever buy a tablet/ipad there is absolutely no need to ever buy a 3g one when a you can do this with a wi-fi one and save the extra contract and initial cost. It takes just a few seconds each time (less than 10).
