Wi Fi and G1000 as a Modem?

I got my G1000 to work though USB as a modem. But now my next challange, can the G1000 work as a modem, if connecting though a WiFi 802.11 connection? Anyone?

Why bother? If there is WiFi about, I would just connect to it directly, rather than going through the G1000 ... I can understand when using the G1000 as a modem to the 1xRTT network, but with WiFi, I don't see the need to use the G as a "middleman" modem.

    Wi Fi and G1000 modem

Reason is, I want to be able to have internet access in my car, when commuting, on trips, or on areas that don't have wi fi. Right now, It works with having the USB cable, but would be more convient if I didn't have to drag the cable around. So does anyone know if that is possible?

So, your looking for a "wireless" way to connect your laptop to the G1000 to access the 1xRTT network? I don't think that the G has the necessary software to act as a wireless bridge for a WiFi connection. (This would be the Pocket PC equivelent to Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) that is available under Windows XP/2K.)

You might want to look at Bluetooth. Originally Bluetooth was designed to act as a "wireless" cable between devices ... short range, low power. While the G does have a bluetooth driver, I don't think that it has a "modem" bluetooth profile that would be needed to make it act as a 1xRTT modem for the laptop. If you search for bluetooth on this forum, you will find all of the previous postings and perhaps some of those might provide some insight.

    Good luck ...
