Reverse Tethering: Using the home PCs internet connection for the SMT5800

What I want to do is use the desktop PC's internet connection to access the internet on the SMT via the USB cable. The reason is for maps- I can get use Google maps (and driving directions) on the phone at home, then take the phone with me in the car once I have the page up. This saves me ink and paper. So, is it possible? How can you tell if the phone is accessing the internet via the USB or via the Verizon network? I don't have a data plan, so I'd be charged by the KB, which I want to avoid.

As soon as you connect and sync via wmdc or activesync this happens by default. It already works on your phone.
