SDHC is a newer format that supports much higher total capacity. If the card readers you have aren't SDHC compliant, they won't be able to read the one that you're purchasing. So that would be the driving factor - do you have an older device you want to insert it in?
There are higher SDHC cards coming - the format supports up to 32GB.
They're just spinning up production runs. Personally, I'm waiting for the 32GB ones to roll out before buying another (I've a 4GB one now). Then I can cram everything onto a single card.
I have the samsung gravity from t-mobile. I bought a 4GB micro sd card from walmart and when I got it home it was empty. So I returned it. I got a different card and when I tried to format it my phone said error. When I got a second card I received the same message. Could this be because it SDHC and not just SD?
Just check your user manual - if it doesn't say your device supports the SDHC specs, then the largest card you can put in the phone is 2GB. Anything larger than that is SDHC.
Hi! Here is my problem. In my phone manual and in the manufacturer's website it is written that it supports 4 GB micro SD card but there is nothing about microSD HC. Shall I buy 4GB microSD HC and will it run. Please help!
Most manufacturers will only print that they support the largest capacity card they could test at the time. That way, if something goes haywire with a larger card from a dodgy manufacturer they're at least a bit covered.
