    Firmware backup

I am trying to back up my firmware from my new phone...
I managed to get the ROM file off with Palm's ROM Transfer.

I found older version on the Kyocera FTP site (MZ 1.0.20 and SZ 1.0.10)

    My versions are:

    MZ 1.0.30
    SZ 1.0.17

    Thanks!

Really? That's interesting! I have an Alltell 7135, with MZ 1.0.27 and SZ 1.0.13. Where did you get your phone?
If you haven't already, please vote on a bluetooth voice AND data adapter for the 7135 (that plugs into the serial port, leaving your expansion card slot free!)

If I can get it off my phone I can get you a copy of it... I need it off first.

Well, you can use the KWPST tools to get a copy, I think. Don't quote me on that, though.

I have been trying to find how. KWPST doesn't have a direct way of sucking the firmware off it.

Good luck in you efforts Ajam, Please keep us appraised of what you learn.

I'm sure its different, but have you messed with the copilot PC-Palm Emulator program? I believe it can copy the rom off of a palm to use in the emulator. However, I don't think it gives the option of loading roms back into a device. Probably different format than Kyoceras kwpst works with and it may not even work with kyocera products but something to consider none the less.

Actually I used Palm's ROM Transfer to pull the ROM (Palm OS) off my phone... KWPST will allow you to put that up there. But I have yet to find how KWPST will copy these files off the phone.

I've used BB to backup all of the ROM from my phone but don't have a clue how to flash it to anyone else's ROM. (I wouldn't recommend doing it anyway.)

    Folks,

I'm sure that new firmware's will be posted when Verizon releases the phone.

If you have a friend that has Kyocera's PST you can easily backup the phone firmware.

If you know about Palm programming, you can easily backup the Palm side firmware.

I am using the Alltel/GetConnected firmware -- as far as I know this is the latest released to the public. If anyone wants it I have ROM images for both.

    SZ 1.0.13
    MZ 1.0.27

It works but it is buggy -- this is early adopter stuff...

Kyocera. You can buy them from their website.
