Do I need to install Palm Desktop from CD (4.0.x) over Palm Desktop 4.1 for Mac OS X?

If so, would I then need to reinstall 4.1? Any advice would be appreciated!

Palm 4.1 (downloaded from Palm) is working just fine for me.
    even sync's better than the Kyocera-CD-supplied 4.0.

Yes, but did you install the CD version first?

yes (simply because I had gotten the phone/CD before 4.1 was available), but i don't think it's necessary to do so.

There are no additional files installed by the version on the CD?

i'm really not sure. it can't really hurt to just install the CD then install 4.1, so you might as well.

I just started using PalmDesktop 4.1 for Mac OS X but with the Entourage conduit. I'm trying to sync doodles and voice memos to the Note pad and Voice memo desktop apps while keep Entourage as my PIM replacing the Address book, Calendar, Memo and To Do conduits with the Entourage one. Whenever I sync, however, my doodles and voice memos don't transfer to the desktop.

    Any suggestions?

    Thx

I was unable to sync at all until I uninstalled Palm Desktop 4.1 and installed the Kyocera provided Palm Desktop 4.0. Now I can sync flawlessly using iSync. No data loss since all my info is stored in iCal and Address Book.

I found out from Kyocera tech support that the voice and doodle part of the 7135/Palm 4.1 Memo Pad are not compatible with the Voice Memo and Notepad desktop apps in PD 4.1 for Mac. He said they are aware of it already and are considering writing a conduit.

I just got this from Kyocera Support:

Thank you for contacting Kyocera Wireless. I understand that you have

questions about version 4.1 of the Palm Desktop for Mac.

At this time we are reviewing this updated software to determine if the

added functionality will interoperate with the 7135 SmartPhone. Once this

review is complete and if it is determined to be compatible, updated informatio

n will be posted to our support website.

In addition, we are verifying that the Backup conduit properly registers

and backs up the phone side of the 7135. Until we have verified this,

you can install and use version 4.1 however you may not be able to properly

recover phone related info (such as the recent call list) from Hard Resets

if the Backup conduit is not fully compatible.
