    Blocking SPAM - VZW

Help! I'm getting a LOT of spam to my VZW text message
account. The vtext.com website permits me to block (only)
15 spam sources. I'm getting this spam from a LOT more
that 15 originators. Anyone know how-to do SMS/text
blocking on a more fine-grained level? (Ideally; I'd like
to block everything with an attachment)

800-308-DATA (data support) has been disconnected.

First call to VZW Customer Suport handed me off to Asurion.
    Doh!

Second call: VZW C/S next told me that they cannot transfer
calls to tech support and referred me to 800-638-6306. I
asked the rep to stay on the line as I conf'd them on. She
said no, and dropped the call. The nbr she gave me is
    disconnected. Double doh!

Third call: VZW C/S next told me to contact the originator and
ask them to stop sending messages. Triple doh!

Fourth call: Finally a transfer to data support. The olde
800-308-DATA number has been changed to 866-788-9387.

    Fingers-crossed ...

    I HATE SPAM

    Was I subtle ?

When I started getting SPAM on my phone, I called up Verizon and told them to just take text messaging and............remove it from my acoount.
It's the only solution I know that will eliminate spam.
I never really used text messaging much anyway.
I've heard they have even WORSE plans under consideration.
For instance, there is a plan to link the GPS to text messaging. That way, when you are driving past a McDonalds----BAM ! you get a text message telling you about a sale.
Wait until the first person gets a GPS based message and then gets into a car accident retrieving it.
I can't WAIT for those lawsuits.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy

Why does he get so much spam? I have had a userid@vtext.com for at least 3-4 years and have never gotten spam! Should I just consider myself lucky?

If you ever posted your vtext address on the web, anywhere, you don't have a chance, dranz. Maybe changing your user ID would work.

OTOH, I wonder if spammers are putting in random phone numbers @vtext.com, which would be harder to do anything about, I imagine.

    Big drag.

BTW, the GPS-to-SMS thing can be disabled. You have a choice of enabling GPS for 911 calls only, in one of the prefs.

Can you create an alias, and then have your old SMS address blocked?
