    MP3 playback & Game performance

    Hi,

Has anybody experienced performance problems while playing MP3s on the the 7135 phone ? Mine always breaks up every few seconds, kinda makes the MP3 player functionnality useless.

Also when playing games, performance of the device is not that great. Quite often, it looks like the PDA is busy doing something else, it is not responding to screen taps and it just queues up the moves and then plays them all together a few seconds later. This is also pretty annoying.

I moved from a Palm IIIx to the 7135 and performance wise, I'm not impressed at all.

    Thanks for any help.

    7135 Issues

    a) The 7135 has an issue with MP3's encoded at a bitrate higher than 128kbps (although I've found I can use MP3's at up to about 160 without an issue).

There is a hack on here somewhere that gets rid of that restriction (for some people)...do a search to find it.

    b) I find this normally happens if the phone side is looking for service while playing a game. Turn of the phone and this should disappear - or play your games in an area with good phone service!

You could also get AfterBurner (version 3.20 minimum) to speed up the CPU in the 7135. I use it for programs that don't perform very well on mine. It has a profiler function that finds the slowest and fastest CPU speeds that your particular 7135 can handle (they vary). I crank mine up to 44 MHz when needed and it works great!

I have the same problem when listening to mp3s and playing monopoly. Phone service not an issue.

Hi and many thanks to everybody.
This was very quick and of great help.
Let me just summarize what went on.
Initially everything was standard 7135 options & sftw.
MP3 playback was breaking up with 192kbps MP3.
128kbps MP3 turned out to play ok.
MP3 player didn't matter, Bebopper was acting the same.
    Installing MMClib_hack fixed the problem.
Now both players plays the 192kbps perfectly.

    Tx to all again.
