Live NYC traffic - avant go compatible site?

I am quite pleased with Avant Go on my 7135. I am even using the "Modem sync" feature to update my Avant Go pages by dialing into Verizons free* qnc data service. My avant go account is quite small, basically just the ny times front page & tech pages, so it syncs in just a few minutes.

I can also choose channels->connect, and then I am on-line with the qnc service.

I am very interested in being able to either browse a live traffic report using the avant go web browser, or (preferably) use an avant-go channel to download a traffic report. There are many free traffic web sites - I am using traffic.com on my desktop computer for NYC traffic and it's quite nice. However the web pages are far too complex for my 7135.

Is there a web site that is avant-go compatible? If there is not a free one, is there a subscription-based one that works via avant go instead of sending page alerts?

    Thanks!

    * free as in the only charge is minutes used. Since I mainly use it nights and weekends, it's included in my bonus minutes.

I have tried several sites here in California, and the best one, both for Avantgo and direct web access is the Highway Patrol. Clear, simple, and turns out that most of the other sites are using their information to make up their reports.

    Hey, a fellow Montclairian!
    I've had a decent experience with www.metrocommute.com

They have fancy interactive maps, but the frame on the right is just a simple text listing of all the traffic incidents/conditions. I created a shortcut by right-clicking on the frame, and copied the link to my 7135. Works like a champ - maybe this will work for you.

If all you need is NJ, I also took a look at the NJ state webpages after reading about the Calif Hwy Patrol site above. The Dept of Trans has their own live traffic with a similar interactive map:

    and text list of incidents:

    Andrew,

How about that! A fellow Montclair resident who uses a 7135!! How about that indeed! We should get in touch. So I tried the metrocommute.com URL and the right frame looks good. I have dug around quite a bit and found some additional 7135-friendly traffic URLs. I found some specific GWB and Lincoln Tunnel links, along with a NJ specific link. These are all less than 20k, so they load very fast even with the qnc service.

When I first tried the NE NJ traffic link, it said the parkway was closed from mile 142 to 153. I thought, maybe it's not working or in some sort of test mode? I can't remember the last time a 10 mile stretch of the parkway was closed in the fall. But sure enough, it was true!

Well, not exactly a fellow Montclairian, but I did live in San Dimas for 20 years. I am now living in Riverside County, and working in downtown LA. So the days that I can't ride Metrolink, the traffic is a major issue.
