    Question Q9M CPU @ 100%

    All,

I am having an issue with my phone recently where the CPU utilization will hit 100% and stay there until I do a soft reboot. After I restart the phone it will be fine for a few minutes and then go back up to 100%. I took a look at the following posts which did not help my issue:

    http://www.smartphoneforums.com/forums/motorola-moto-q-9-q9/93684-cpu-utilization-100-battery-problem.html

I made sure that I am EXITing out of the task manager every time I use it. I do use data push to sync with my works exchange server, however, I have been using the phone for 6 months now with no issues. The only change that I have made recently was to install the mobile IM app from verizon. When these issues started I uninstalled the app but I am still having the same problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Sounds like you have made some good attempts at finding the issue. I agree with you that it is unlikely the Exchange push that is causing the problem. Many people use it with no issues. My next attempt would be to bring up the task list and kill each task one at a time to see if it improves the situation. If that does not work, check the \Windows\Startup menu to see if there is a program loading that is cause it. You can temporarily move the links from there to some other folder and soft boot the device (power off and on) to see if that solves it.

A popular tool that would help in your investigation is SKTools, which has many utilities to check for and remove bad registry entries, clean up unneeded files, etc. You might want to try a trial copy of that program to see if it helps.

An obviously an hard reset (running the master reset menu item) is a last resort solution. Sometimes this is good to help determine the issue, since you can start with a fresh device and see if the problem exists, and if not, then install your wanted programs one at a time to see which one is causing the issue.

I feel your pain...using an advance device that is as flexible and customizable as the Q9 phones are, sometimes requires some maintenance time to deal with situations like this one.

Hope this helps...keep us posted on what you try and the final solution.
