    Graffiti 2

    Yes, I searched!

No, I couldn't find the answer.

Yes, I searched in the Palm OS section as well.

Palm OS 4.1.2, according to this report http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1104-980403.html, will have Graffiti 2 , which is the latest version of Jot.

Does ther 7135 have 4.1.2 with the new Graffiti. Apparently Kyocera was one of the first companies to get the new OS with the new Graffiti.

Do you think it will be upgradeable to Jot?

Jot's just an application, isn't it? If so, it should be a simple purchase and install process.

The 7135 was already in production when the court case was decided...

I guess my issue is whether it will be provided for free.

    Good question

That's a good question actually. I think the ball is in Kyocera's court.

Palm has stated on it's website that it has released Palm 4.1.2 to it's licensees (you can even download the ROM to work on POSE).

So I guess it's a question of if and when Kyocera will release it for the 7135. I don't believe that Kyocera is under any obligation to do so, so who knows if it will even happen.

What has been Kyocera's behaviour with the 6035 regarding upgrades? Is if flashable? Has Kyo provided OS updates before?

I'd be really surprised if it's provided for free. It's not like it's impossible to obtain any other way. $40 and it's yours if you really don't like using Grafitti...

There was a *very* minor upgrade to the 6035 upgrade, as I recall. It didn't include any new programs, though now that I think of it, I'm not sure what the 3.5.3 upgrade delivered.

I do believe, though, that Kyocera's stated position on the 7135 OS is that it's not upgradable. There will obviously be upgrades to the phone and Palm software, so we may see Jot functionality slipstreamed into the 7135. Not an issue for me, as I don't mind working with Grafitti...

Graffit 2 has some tweeks by Palm, so it isn't actually the Jot you can download.

I'd still rather have it in the 7135 than pay another $40 for it.

    Thanks for the info!
