    Verizon EV-DO PRL issue RESOLVED...

Great news, after doing a *22899 this morning, I now have the EV indicator and am streaming high-speed on my new XV-6600...... Nice work Verizon.

Mine now says EV as well, but it won't connect giving an error that the username and password are wrong. I'm on the phone with them now to resolve.

Told me that in Settings, you had to use a username of yourmobilenumber@vzw3g.com with a password of "vzw". However, this isn't working so far for me in Arlington, Texas.

    FYi:
The EV-DO is working in DFW area now. In case you haven't already done it, dial *22899 on your device. After the reboot, if you recevie an error message while the device is trying to connect that says your username and password are wrong, tap Settings, Connections, Manage exsisting connections, Edit the CDMA2000 then tap Next until you get to the username and password screen.

    For the username type:
    yourmobilenumber@vzw3g.com (ie 8175551212@vzw3g.com)

    For the password type lowercase:
    vzw

Also, during a voice call, the data will switch to 1x. This is normal. (I found out the hard way thinking I was loosing EV-DO) After the voice call has ended, you device will automatically switch back to EV.

I haven't seen the EV symbol since I provisioned the phone. After several calls (and some changes on my account), I'm getting the speed but not the icon. I still get the 1x icon.

VZW Tech support is working on my issue.

Is this only for Verizon? I am with Sprint and would love to have the high speed connection.

It will be months or even a year before Sprint has EV-DO speeds. They just announced this week that they are PLANNING to role it out.

what does the 99 do after the *228?

Can I run it even if I am not in an EVDO area? I often travel into the EVDO areas and would like to use it when I am there.

Also, what is the PRL number it gives you? I currently have 50225.

    thanks,

    Mike

The 99 is the same as dialing *228 and pressing option #2

50225 is the most current PRL according to VZW Tech Level 3 support.

    NA issues

I'm in the metro NY area and have been having some issues.

Have the EV indicator but each attempt to access either gives me Invalid UN/PW area or Remote Modem Disconnect error.

When in 1x area, can connect to NA just fine. Anyone else having similar issues?

You need to call verizon so they can enable EVDO on your account, then it should work. I had the same problem your having.

Thanks xxplosive...did that this morning. The 1st person I talked too wasn't too responsive. The second person addressed my account and I'm enjoying EV-DO goodness!!!

I reprogrammed my device and I am up and running with EV here in Dallas. All I can say is "AWESOME!" We need a better bandwidth test, though. Just like EH I am seeing "too fast for test" on half of my tries.
