    SD card problem

I currently have a PNY 1GB card. Every once in a while my pocket pc seems to completely erase everything on it.

Question: In the e-mail option, I have it set to store attachments on the card. Is this the problem? Or is it my card?

When you say that it completely clears everything off of it...have you tried when this happens, plugging the SD card into a card reader? I have had this or other PPC's register it as being empty, but when I plugged the card into a card reader on a PC, all of the contents were still there. A soft reset on the PPC-6601...and the contents of the card reappeared.

Yes, I've tried a card reader...everything is gone, except for the journal bar cache...I find that interesting...but everything else is gone.

Wow, are all of you using a PNY? Mine is a Kingston, and it hasn't happened, except what is described above.

Are you using any Accessory programs for interacting/formatting the SD card? My Brother had an issue with his, but it was an accidental reformatting. I know, I know, a long shot...just seems very strange.

Nope...not accidental, happened after a lockup and soft reset...and then everything gone.

Same story here... PNY 1GB ... - I view it in a PC - and it shows the same files reported (journal etc...) - then moments later all is back...

In my instance, no special programs used.

When I placed the SD card in the computer and checked properties, it shows that the card is empty.

Wasn't lucky enough to have the items come back.

So the moral of the story is...

Don't get the PNY 1GB card?

    How scary!

Any chance you guys can exchage your cards for another brand?

    I mean, that's a *PRETTY SERIOUS* problem!!!

Yep - has happened twice - and both times it comes back... I make it part of my routine to backup the card often.

Q - What's the best prg to backup the entire PPC device - including Storage Card - as well as the "state of the unit" meaning that the restore will restore the install of apps on the storage card.

I use Sprite Backup to back everything on the PPC up. Works quickly and backs everything up, except the card. For the card, I just plug it into a card reader and copy the contents to the PC.

Does the ppc remember that it had those apps on storage card when restore is completed? Problem I'm having now is that I hard-reset - use the active sync restore and everything on the phone is great - but I have to re-install anything on the card.

I had a similar problem with my i700.

If I filled the card up more than half way, the file system would get scrambled. The card would get filled up with truncated files.

I'm scared to try it out with the XV6600 ....
The XV6700 is a lot like democracy: They're both less than perfect, but they're the best available ... as far as Verizon is concerned.

Kreigz--my 1 GB card was always acting up in the i700. Same card in the 6600 has given me NO trouble in the 3 months I've had it. I had to back the card up weekly on the i700; I've stopped backing it up on the 6600, b/c I have never needed to use it.

I think it has something to do with "You get what you pay for"... I paid $49 bucks - and for $49 if it craps out from time to time - as long as my data magically comes back as it has done on 3 occasions its all GOOD.

I have a Ultra 2 1GB - but i use it in my canon 1dsmk2 - seems like a waste to put it in my 6600.
