    ExtTools - Extended Rom Unlocker

Attached is a tool that will allow you to unlock/unhide your extended rom. This app is based off of the work by itsme from xda-developers. The password was different for this device and I also added a UI to it. Use at your own risk! Make sure you read up on the extended rom if your not familiar with it.

    Thanks! That did the trick...

My new Customize.sa.CAB is now in the extended rom... which makes the test worthwhile.

Next changes: put exttools in the cab for automatic extraction and placement too

How Do I See & Install Programs stored in ROM

I want to reinstall the Album app, as it not working correctly. How do see, find, and install the cab file for the Album in ROM?

I believe the Album "Application" is not in ROM.
But the CAB it was installed from is in the Extended ROM.

The Extended ROM is where each provider customizes the phone.
    By default it is hidden.

To unhide see below (note the site shows 2 ways a tool or registry)

    http://www.ppcw.net/mobile2003.php?itemid=1638

There is also a tool recently release by xda-developers.com to unlock the Extended_ROM which is risky. Usually used to take adavantage of extra "ROM" space and customize the phone on hard reset.

You should see Album in your "Installed Applications" list.

Oh, also RESCO File Explorer can show files that are actually in ROM in other parts of your File System.

I had trouble with Album working well when I first got it as well. I think it had to do with my attempted installations of Acrobat Reader 2.0. I haven't had any issues with it since. Of course, you could always blame it on VC.... Seriously, it is working fine for me now.

I got it working again. I tried soft reset...didn't work. I uninstalled the all apps since I know when it was working....didn't work. Then I changed the battery with a fully charged one...and taking the battery out worked. Maybe it cleared out some cache or something that the soft reset didn't????

Thanks for all the help...Dave the link was just perfect! Now I am all set in case in need to install a single app again in the future.

I am also going to save the PhotoContacts cab file, and replace it wth the newer iJam version that includes distinctive ringtones feature.

I get the following error when trying to unlock the extended ROM on my Verixon 6600 (with Camera.)

Error: FL_IOCTL_BDTL_HW_PROTECTION - A device attached to the system is not functioning.

I've soft reset and can see the files, they are just read-only and cannot be modified (config.txt) or deleted (Wireless Sync client.)

I've even done a hard reset and tried to unlock the Extended ROM as the first thing I did.

I've searched and found no reference to this error.

The only thing I want to do is get rid of the Wireless sync client and add SP TimeSync so that if I have a hard reset when changing the battery, I can get my time set and restore a backup.

On that note, why doesn't the phone get the time from the cell network like a normal cell phone does?

Are you using SuperDave's program or the XDA-Developers one?

It worked this time. I tried two different utilities mentioned on this board, but hadn't tried that one.

SuperDave is a wiz. He did quite a bang up job on my v710.

    Thanks

None of the other utilities unlock the Blue Angel extended ROM. The password is wrong.

SuperDave's is the only one that works.
