    Sprite Backup Question

I noticed that within the Restore options, there is a setting that says "Enable Device Upgrade mode"...anybody know what this is?

Would this have worked for the new ROM upgrade? Just curious for the next one...

No clue--I didn'nt know it was there. I bet it would have worked! Too late for me to test--already spent a whole day installing programs, so I'm not going to go through that again. Maybe someone who hasn't done it yet?

Exactly! Dito here on the reinstall (mainly because of your experience!)

Hey...anybody willing to try this option BEFORE they install the ROM, and let us know if it works, would save a lot of time in the future...(that is if anyone hasn't done it yet )

    Thanks!

I think Solsavr should get an award for noticing this. Here's more info on the Sprite site:

I've got nothing to lose by repeating the the audiovox/siemens Firmware update. I went to Sprite Backup link that Swap provided, but they don't support any of our phones. Those device upgrade files included Dells and Ipaq's.

They have a program and instructions to create your device upgrade file if your device isn't listed:

I might just go out and buy this software, since I haven't done the ROM upgrade yet.

I emailed Sprite to see if the XV6600 (Audiovox) is supported, here is the reply:

"Device upgrade Mode will work in nearly all devices. I am sure that will also work in your device, if you carefully follow the instructions I am sure that you will perform a successful upgrade."

I did not want to randomely select any smart phone update files from the link below.

    http://www.spritesoftware.com/suppo...rade_files.html

So I decided to reinstall the Siemens Firmware, and use the regular backup/restore by Sprite. But before I restored I decided to test the BT performance.

    Conclusion: no change. Still sucks.

I then restored from the Sprite backup---> no change, no bad effects.
