Where to place Apps (storage, storage card, etc)

HobbesIsReal has started a good thread on "toys for the 66x". It started me thinking about where to place Apps. Most of them will allow you to place them anywhere, but some won't (VC, for example, must go to its' default location).

Hobbes mentioned, as one of his "must haves", an SD WiFi card. This is obviously a great idea, but if you have already installed Apps to your SD card you might miss them during WiFi connects.

I imagine that some Apps run better in some places rather than others. What installation logic is most solid for the Apps we all use. What are the performance ramifications?

I put the following in main memory:
Today plug-ins unless the documentation explicitly says a card is OK
Anything you I need while using wi-fi (e.g. browser, net utilities, etc.)
Anything that says it must go in main memory (like VC)

Everything else gets installed to a memory card until/unless that proves to be a problem.

There are hacks and registry tweaks that will allow some types of data to be moved to a memory card also, but you need to be sure you won't need that stuff while using Wi-Fi. I leave mine in main memory for now.

I believe there is a Wi-Fi card w/ 256Mb of RAM. That could be worth a look, but I've heard there are issues using that card and our phones.

Some people tried that card, and it doesn't support Windows Mobile 2003 SE. General note is stay away. (Its an SD card.. so not really "ram").

As to where to put things.. almost everything for me goes into ram. (I've got a 128M.. what else is going to go in there?)

1G SD card is for porn.. 'r.. I mean "videos".. ya.. "videos" the legal non-DVD ripped kind..

Move on MPAA, nothing to see here!
