    Wifi for 6601

Is the Wifi hardware actually missing or is the Wifi just disabled?

What if I come across a dead phone from a different carrier that has Wifi, is it possible transplant the Wifi unit into my 6601?

Not there. It was replaced with EVDO. And no, you couldn't transfer anything. (Things of this size are pure boards, nothing is replacable really. Fixing anything inside it, from a service perspective, is a complete replacement usually).

Find yourself a cheap SD wifi card is the only real option.

Internal WiFi is not just a module you plug into the 6601 main board. External WiFi capability is easily added with an SD card, although many seem to be incompatible with these phones. Success has been achieved with Socket and Sandisk (w/o memory) SD cards.
