    XCPUScalar 2004 & PPC-6600???

I bought a full copy of "Advanced XScaleCtrl" back in the day for my Hitachi G1000 and it worked great. From what I can tell now this program was replaced by "XCPUScalar 2004" right? Did ImmierSoft.com buy out Wibble-Wobble.com or what?

Anyway, is anyone here running "XCPUScalar 2004" on their 660x and how is it as far as compatability and what speeds are you able to hold steady?

Can I contact ImmierSoft and get a free upgrade do you think since I bought the old one legit?

Had it on the G, and now on the PPC6600, no problems at all. I just set it on the highest, 472, just like on the G and it's fine.

You can go into the advanced settings and bump up the speed to 530. I've used it on my xv6600 for a month with no problems at all.

How's the battery life at those speeds?

I haven't noticed any difference because I have it drop down to 300mhz when not busy.

Does overclocking make a significant difference in web browsing under the same conditions?

Are there any long term effects on the CPU from being overDriven?

I tried it, but had to un-install due to constant lockups. I suspect it was conflicting some of my other third party software.

running it over 500 is scary... i would not advise it.. just the wrong button press or if you have too many things runing in the background could cause the processor to lock up.

battery life is reduced much more with overclocking on....

i use xcpu up o 472 and it works fine. as far as your data connection, its only as fast as the weakest link... which is the wireless connection itself. the overclock wont make downloads any faster.

hey cat, it feels good to no longer see the "phonecontrol.exe" error popup

    Marc,
You got that right! This one has none of the quirks the G used to pull. I'm in heaven! (at least till the next better thing comes along). LOL. Nah, this one's a keeper for a longer while.

Two things will significantly speed up web browsing.
    One, turn off images.
Two. if downloads seem to be slowing down or even stopped, go to windowa/profiles/guest/cookies, and delete any cookies you donn't need.

Now you took all the fun out of web browsing. LOL

That's why I prefer to use WiFi when possible, where I can cruise at 1.5 MBPS. If I have to use GPRS (SX66 in my case) I usually go the WAP route.

I use it at 530 it works great. But movies running of the SD card will lock up at this speed.
Im bitter, why cant I get a VGA pda phone phone with a high speed data carrier in the US? is that to much to ask?

XCPUScalar and the PPC-6600 - Compatible?

    Hello everyone,

I have not seen any threads on XCPUScalar and its compatibility with the PPC-6600. Is anyone using this "XCPUScalar" program with any success? Is it ok to use the program with the PPC-6600?

It looks awesome...I'd love to use it...but I'm apprehensive because I have not seen one thread or post mentioning it in this PPC-6600 forum.

    Any information is appreciated.

Used XCPUScalar.2004.v2.85 before (set it to 520). I compared the run result with "no XCPUScalar" ppc6600 by Spbbenchmark. There is no much different in performance.

I then never touch XCPUScalar again. It seems high speed does not help much but dries up the battery quickly, and creates a lot of heat...

To be honest the one thing I really like is the CPU meter.

Does anyone know of an application that shows the current processes CPU usage broken down app by app?

Pocket Task Master shows active processes, but doesn't show CPU usage. I stopped using XCPUScalar because it seemed to add instability without really speeding things up. My experience using the CPU meter with the ipaq 2215 convinced that processing bottlenecks on pocket pc's are likely somewhere other than the CPU. With XCPUScalar on auto, the meter rarely showed more than 20 to 50 per cent of available CPU speed being used. The same was true during the brief time I had it installed on my PPC-6601.

I've been using XCPUScalar since the G. Thinking it sped up games, until I read this.
I turned it off today, and guess what? My games are running just as fast without it. So, maybe for the G it was good, but it doesn't seem to add anything to the 6600.
DinarSoft MemMaid also shows running processes.

I bought it... but don't use it. I'd hoped to have it slow the CPU down when not in use, and speed it up when in use.

Unfortunately it just seemed to lock up more often than not, and wasn't worth the hassle. I suspect, as others have pointed out, it's a conflict with something I'm running... but I like what I'm already running.
