ARGH! Bluetooth keeps disconnecting during ActiveSync

While I'm trying to install programs or do a backup via bluetooth active sync, my phone always randomly disconnects right in the middle of performing an action.
This is very frustrating, and the only way to start another connection is to restart my PC and my phone, and then try again and pray that it doesnt disconnect again.
Is anyone else having this problem? How do I fix it?

Also are you supplying power to the phone? If the answer is no you might have a bad radio (One of the PPCs I was responsible for had a bad bluetooth radio)

First thing to verify is that you are the 3500 version of the bluetooth stack on your phone.

Yes I verified that I have the 3500 Bluetooth stack on my PPC6600, and yes I am running XP SP2, however I dont know anything about a XP SP2 stack?
No I'm not supplying power to the phone while trying to sync/install. My bluetooth on my phone works fine with my bluetooth GPS, so I dont think its the radio...
It happens everytime I try to install something, it gets about 1/2 of the way, then disconnects...
    This is very frustrating..

If you added XP SP2 later you might still have bluetooth drivers that came from the manufacturer of the bluetooth device in your laptop (they might be old drivers).

XP SP2 includes a new bluetooth stack. But if you already had a stack it may not replace it.

Go into device manager and see who wrote the driver, date and what version. Mine is listed as Microsoft 8/3/2004 5.1.2600.2180

If they are not the microsoft drivers and you want to try the Microsoft drivers out, delete all bluetooth devices in hardware manager and reboot. XP will detect it and install the XP SP2 bluetooth drivers and stack.

When active sync is up, the PPC-6600 PDA will not sleep (Battery or AC) as it should.

Just for Grins and Giggles, try doing an activesync/install with the power plugged in. (Meaning the AC adapater not the USB connection) I want to know if it completes then.

The 6600 with the bad radio worked fine with a bluetooth headset(just a little flaky from sleep but that is a whole other thread) but not with the computer so just because it works with your GPS doesn't mean it will keep connected with your computer.
