    Talking Vitual BT laser keyboard!

    I-Tech Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard (http://www.itechdynamic.com)

This is too cool, but would it work with the 660x?

Kind of pricey, but imagine pulling that out at a Starbucks?

Bob's IPAQ - or Rick's Ipaq - or Jims Ipaq (a site that is called something IPAQ) did a review on this... They said it was the SchiZ-Niz... I think its a price performance issue but it would be "bling" cool.

I charged it wednesday, and tried it Thursday - I have given up as of friday and am waiting to hear back from support at www.virtual-laser-keyboard.com

I can pair it with my 6600 and not my Zire 72. I am unable to discover any usable services to set up a bluetooth connection on the PPC when i try to "explore" the VKB. The PPC driver loads but cannot establish a connection.

BTW, the keyboard dipslays bright and clear, and it makes a distinctive "click" sound when I type on it - sure wish it would work...

Have you tried the Broadcom patch for BT Keyboards?

No, I am still trying to get it to do more than just pair. I did the patch you recommended and a couple of new choices for new Bt services are there, including BT keyboard.

After it is paired, I first tried to explore the keyboard as per the instructions, and there are "no services available". I tried to install as a BT keyboard, and the 6600 says it can't find a keyboard.

So, I go into the VKB utility and try to activate it first (instructions say don't do this till you have discovered services and made a connection icon in BT manager) and I click on "yes" when it asks if this is the first time using it. It then takes me to a paired devices browser where I select the VKB, but then it says that there are no BT serial ports for that device (these are created by the first two options I tried that didn't work).

I reset the VKB with a paperclip and tried to pair it with my Zire 72, and I cannot get that far.

I reset the keyboard and it paired just fine with the XV6600 again. Then I activated the VKB utility but said this is NOT my first time to use it. It then brought up the documented icon at the top of the screen for "no conenction". Went to bluetooth manager after that and tried to both explore the VKB and to add a keyboard and neither would work, just like above.

With the VKB enabled in the utility as above, I removed the VKB from the paired devices and then reset the VKB again. This time instead of pairing first, as per directions, I went to BT manager and tried to make a new explore a device connection first. It showed the VKB as not being paired, and I selected it. It searched for services and says there are none available. Did the same with "new" keyboard, and it finds no keyboard.

So, having the VKB utility "enabled" or not does nothing to help, and pairing the VKB or not does nothing. I tried all combinations of choices that I could think of. Note: This was with BT selected as the port in the VKB utility each time.

Time to get an RMA number, unless you think the new XV6600 ROM would help. If I do that, do I need to run BT3900 patch again, and do I need to run the keyboard BT patch...

So are you on the XV6600WOC without the patch?

If the answer is "no" then we're done

If the answer is "yes" then do the patch!!!

I have the XV6600WOC without the ROM update or the 3900 patch.

It was working well enough without them.

    So, I should

    1) update the audiovox rom?
    2) install the BT3900 or the BT3900_B patch on top of that?

    Definitely the ROM update

If 3900 didn't work by itself it won't work after the ROM update either.

    3900B isn't a win over 3900.

Well, I haven't tried 3900 yet. Maybe I should give it a shot first?

You should understand my resistance to update ROM - I ran windows update on my toshiba libretto and it updated a network driver and killed my 802.11g PC card connection.

I have spent the past 6 hours trying to undo the damage and think I will need to wipe it and start from scratch, because my spare d-link wireless card wont work now either.
