    MS Media Encoder Streams

First, Last Night I thought I started a new Post so people may see how I found to stream tv or your web cab for FREE using ms media encoder 9. Now I look this morning and the post is gone and moved to another post???? Maybe I posted there??? I was tired??

Anyhow I thought more people may read it if it was a new post..

So here it is... And Im sorry if someone already found how to do it this way??? I did search and did not find anything..

    Streaming TV to Phone

I think I found how to do it... For Free if you have a TV tuner card. Let me know if it works for you? It did work for me tonight my first test.... Here are the steps I took.. see below:

    1. Download Windows Media Encoder 9 Free from MS

    2. Install and run windows media encoder

    3. Select Broadcast a Live event from the startup wizard.

    4. Configure you Video Device, from the dropdown pick your
    tv Tuner card

    5. Click the Configure radio button, and put the input on video
Tuner change the channel here to.

    6. Choose your audio like you configured your video.

    7. Click next then choose pull from the encoder radio button.

    8. Click next and choose a port for it to listen on.

    9. Click next and choose your Video/audio bandwith

    10. Click next, next and finish...

    11. Click start encoding...

    12. You can test it by putting in http://ipaddress:port
in your windows media player under open url.

Note: If you have a router/firewall you will have to configure that. ex: port forwarding, open ports, etc..

I dropped my firewall for testing and it worked... My video had a green cast to it though??? Oh well.. I'll try and fix my small issues later...

    Hope this helps someone else....

I've been thinking this should work, and have been meaning to give it a try, but there's something screwy with my MCE setup. I may end up re-installing MCE today.

I'm guessing that you can't change channels remotely, though?

You might be able to because you can change the channels on the fly while its encoding. Maybe there is a plugin that does that? You could always use logmein to connect to your pc and change it that way...

Like I said, Just started to play with it last night and maybe I'll find answers to those question later...

Or I was hoping that people here could work together to find answers... Thats why I posted this.. I'm sure folks here are alot smarter then I am

For now, I'm done with testing till next week.. Its going up to 50 degrees here and I'm going to Ride my Motorcycle!!!

    Later

    Works Perfect !!

Well Everyone it works PERFECT !!!

I'll be watching NCAA BBall everywhere I go this week !!

So if you invest in a TV tuner card you can stream Live TV to your Phone... For FREE...

Pretty much you just need a Tuner Card and MSE that you can download for free from MS.

See above post on how to do it.

If you need help let me know..

I mean use your PC not your phone. use widows media player and use open url and type in your local IP and port that you have it listening on..

    Hey Shackbanger,

I forgot to ask you when you connected to my live tv stream, do you have EVDO or CDMA?

How did it look and sound to you?

    Thanks

It looked good a little choppy but that is expected with low bit rates. I am using sprintpcs so I guess cdma, I am not in a 3g area
    (Springfield MO)

I will try and get my firewall port open so I can do this tv thing on my ppc 6600

How did you open your ports in your router?

I have WME loaded, I have my local IP address that works through WMP, but my public IP address is not working so I figure it has something to do with my router. Any assistance?

I have not been able to open the ports on my router either. I was able to view TV on my 6600 using another persons ip address though. I have a net gear router and I tried to open port 8080 but I can't get it to work

    Sorry
