Question Getting Email on 6600 to work--HELP pls

I have done the search and haven't found the solution to my problem.

I can go the message screen on my ppc6600 and try to connect. It will dial out, connect, attempt to log on and then it kicks out to the password page. When I re-enter the password and save it.... it will act like it is working and then just kick back out to the password page.

Any ideas? I really need my email.

That set of symptoms could be any number of things. The most likely is that your information that you plugged in has an error in it. BTW you don't say whether this is an email account with an ISP, with your cellular provider etc. and that information could also have a bearing.

Why don't you provide some more details for us to work with.

I am attempting to access my sprintpcs email via my phone (6600) in the messaging area.

    email field: my name@sprintpcs.com

    You name: my name

user name: is it the beginning of my email or what I use to log into my pcs on the pc???

password: I know I got this right.

    incoming; pop.sprintpcs.com

    Outgoing: smtp.sprintpcs.com

    domain: imap.sprintpcs.com

I have outgoing server requiring authentication.

Is this the info you need? Bear with me... I know a Blackberry backwords and forwards, but this is all new to me.

It sounds pretty much like you have things setup right. I'm not sure what the correct pop3 and smtp server names are but I'm assuming that those are what you got from the Sprint website or other reliable Sprint information.

You probably don't need to set the server to require authentication since the ip's being used are local to Sprint. That should only be required if you are attempting to connect to another ISP from a foreign ip to its network such as your ISP.

    Got that... Thanks.

Still kicking me out to the password screen. I am not sure what else to do.

Sometimes it will tell me it can't connect... then I do a soft reset and it will act like it is logging in only to keep asking for my password.

I have the account type as IMAP4 (in the pulldown), incoming and outgoing the same as yours (but NO Domain name), and outgoing mail requires authentication checked. I checked it by sending (and receiving) a test message (I hardly ever use that address) and it's working fine. - sheureka

Ok... I have tried it both ways.... and I get the following when I try it this way...:

Unable to connect to the incoming mail server. Verify that your login information is correct, then try again to send and receive mail.

doublecheck your login name... go to the pcs manage screen and go to your email.. from there, sign in with the username yu are using on the phone and see if you can get in... judging from the error message you may have an incorrect email login...

Did you setup two passwords? One is for your account, one is for Vision. You can always try resetting your password on the Sprint website.

    http://pop.sprintpcs.com/
    click that
enter you username (without the @sprintpcs.com) and password

if it doesnt log you in you have the wrong username or password

if you need to set a new PCS mail password. goto http://www.sprintpcs.com and login to you account

under 'my online tools' click 'PCS mail' then 'settings and preferences' on the left then 'setup'
from there you can set you PCS mail password.

if you have problems you have 35 minutes to contact sprint for help before they close
