    Disable Autoconnect

I searched the forum and didnt find what I was looking for.

I've upgraded from my old Thera to the vx6600. We do not have EDVO right now and I managed to keep my MOU.

I want to make sure this device does not auto connect at any time!! I've read somewhere about a horror story that it did when someone was on MOU and it ate up their minutes.

How can I make sure this thing doesnt dial itself up to the internet when it feels like it?

Have you actually seen a bill that shows you using MOU? Don't hold your breath...

Go into settings->connections and Change the phone number for the CDMA2000 profile from #777 to anything you want. It will try to autoconnect... and fail.

So there is no way to have it pop up and ask you if you wish to connect or not or just say internet unavailable until you click connect.

I was able to connect to EN last night for awhile and i checked #data and it just showed my text messages.

The lady that I was working with understood a lot, and told me she was going to leave my account alone and just put the phone on it. She also hooked me up with some other stuff. Nice girl.

#data takes a day to update.

You could remove all networks that connect to the "internet" and add it as a "work" network.

Then you'd have to manually connect if you wanted it.

Note: I've never tried this, so if it works, post here

You cant remove 'My ISP' for example from the Internet connections menu.

This would almost make me want to keep the phone in Flight Mode when I can't baby sit it.

    Any other ideas?

Flight mode disables ALL radio, including phone, so I don't see how that would solve your problems. I don't see why you got this kind of device if you don't plan on using data much either. Did you consider the Sprint unit, data is cheaper on Sprint.

i do plan on using the data a lot more when edvo becomes available in a few months. then my company will probably pay for the unlimited data and i wont have to worry about it

i just want control over my device going online

yes i know flight mode disables the radio. that will keep it from dialing up to 1xrtt. but i wont get calls too. so i dont want to do that.

Your best bet is to change the phone number it dials for data, as suggested earlier.

So then everytime I purposely want to go online I would have to change it back. Not too much of a problem I suppose.

Sure would be nice if you could control it. You know what if something causes it to go online but not take it back off. Now your on the net all day wasting your battery.

Change it to something that doesn't work.

    Create a second internet connection.
    Set its number/stuff correctly.

Then use THAT one to connect.

Ok. heh. Then just toggle back and forth. Takes seconds, specially with handymenu installed.

I left the phone number alone but removed the password. Doesn't take long to type the password in when I want to connect.
