    rom images

    I would like to know if there is an utility that backups up the rom image in my audiovox 6600? I think that would useful if one upgrades the rom, does not like the performance or functionning of the upgrade and wishes to go back to the original rom image.
    I would also like to know if anybody knows when the new MS OS mobile 5 will be available for the audiovox 6600 (cmda)? Will this upgrade, be specific to the vendor or carrier? Or will you be able to just download it from the MS site and install it?

    Re: rom images

    Ok, I'll take a stab at answering the questions that were actually asked.

    Yes, it appears you would like to know that.

    Do you now?

    Yes, it appears you would like to know this also.

    Will this upgrade, be specific to the vendor or carrier?

    Which upgrade? I'm honestly not aware of one solitary upgrade that matches anything close to your description.

    Or will you be able to just download it from the MS site and install it?
    What is "it?" Which is "the" MS site? I'm not sure if you're asking if I have enhanced download privileges at a particular MicroSoft site, or whether you're suggesting that MicroSoft will start releasing Operating System software via download -- something they've never ever ever ever done.

    I suspect the safe answer is "I don't think so."

    Search a bit for posts on WM2005 and you will find that there will most likely be no official upgrade.

    As for the utility question you can simply download the older rom image and run it to restore the original software.
    PPC-6700, Treo 700wx, Samsung IP-i830w, Motorola i580, LG Fusic. Mix well, add accessories, consume.

    Phone: Treo 700w
    History: XV6600 -> Treo 700w -> XV6800 -> Treo 700w again.
