    Flashing Green and Blue LEDs to bright

    Does anybody know how to disable the Blue and green LEDs?

    They are far to bright in a darken hotel room! Seems like a 747 is flying into the room attempting landing. Don't the engineers who design these things ever use them or travel?

    I have put dark nail polish over the led on my old Motorola phone.

    Anybody else have this problem? What did you do about it?
    Before I break out my wife nail polish again.

    Today we salute you, Mr. Don't Wanna Use the Search Function. You boldly ask a question that's been answered many times before, expecting someone else to do the legwork for you.

    You can download RICoder's TweakPPC from pocketmonkey.net. It's free, and specifically designed to deal with the LEDs on the 660x. While you're there, check out the public beta for SMSPro, the best replacement for sending and receiving text messages via SMS.

    Give everybody a break.

    Give the planet a break about the searching first nonesense. Have you ever considered that I might have looked and not have been satisfied with what I found.

    Those links you provided do not provide any factual information that is easily understood in plain english.

    I don't just download stuff and run it. I want to know (1) what it is (2) did it work and (3) are there anything that I should be careful about regarding side effects.

    So if you can explain how that download solved the problem of the to bright LED or how to turn them off at night and why you recomended it as the best solution that I am listening.

    You can also do a quick searcn for 'registry finds'

    About the 3rd or 4rth page there's info on how to turn off the led's if you want.

    Nothing to be concerned about at all.

    (There are also a few other cool tricks in that thread)

    First of all it is not nonsense to search first...

    I can tell you that RICoder's tweak software works. I use it on my device. I have not seen any problems with it. The only time it does not block the led is if I am charging in the cable (the amber charging light---with usb charging, it stays off). Other than that, all led lights are blocked.

    Funny, in the time it took him to retort I was able to find the registry information and disable both LEDs.

    Guess I was wasting my time instead of posting and waiting several hours for a more direct solution.

    So here is what one does to turn off the LED's.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\drivers\builtin\NLEDMgr - Green
    1 = on
    0 = off (all green/yellow/red functions)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\drivers\builtin\BWLEDMgr - Blue
    2 = on
    0 = off

    Soft reset needed.

    Great. Does anybody know how to get the drivers to read the registry without the soft reset? Can this be done by a software program without the soft reset?

    I would like to write a day / night utility that would adjust ring tones, led's etc to a night time profile and back again in the morning.

    I get it. You're hoping to duplicate in this thread, and in software, what's already been done -- and pointed out to you.

    Did you look up that word, cl00bie?

    Ehud, your being nice today.

    I build software. Its no fun just using somebody elses.

    Just because somebody else has done it that does not mean they have done it well or elegantly or that I should use it.

    You written any software for the PPC?
