    Mobile 5.0 Update Site

Here is a cool site that list all the Pocket PC device that are now available for Mobile 5.0 update from the manufacturer. It is being updated constantly. I hope soon the PPC 6601 is on the list

    Not going to happen.

At BEST all we can hope for is an official EVDO update for our phones.

If we can figure out how to dump the 6700's ROM though, there might be a tiny bit of hope for hacking it over but none of the current ROM dump apps out there seem to work on the 6700

Since it looks like you believe the phone is upgradeable <http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=157186> why do you think the mfgrs are so unwilling to make this happen?
If a bunch of (mostly) amateurs can make it happen, it must be easy for the people who actually write the code for this machine. I'll make the guess that at least some of them are writing the code for the new machines like the Apache.

I think Microsoft hasj fairly strict standards for when a machine is legally upgradeable. If a "required" button is missing, we are SOL even though that function can easily be mapped someplace else.

There have already been several "sightings" of blueangles with WM2005 on them. So it is not a question of can our devices be upgraded or can they run WM2005 but will someone make an updater of some sort for it. Most likely xdadevelopers will be the ones to do that.

Microsoft has already said that PHONES will not be upgradeable. So these PHONES will not be on that list.
