    you know what sucks?

This is what sucks: hard-resetting (on purpose, mind you...I like to redo my Windows devices at least 3 or 4 times a year), enabling permanent save to restore my contacts & appointments, and then changing the date to present time. Does anyone know what happens once you click "Ok"?

Yes *lol*. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

I find that the solution is:
    1. Hard reset (makes those annoying overlapping reminders disappear)
    2. Set the date and time
    3. *** Here's where it matters. If you're going to restore a backup which includes the registry, do NOT enable permanent save. It will be enabled as part of the restore *** enable permanent save

I was actually scared about your reply, because I remember you posting your "Best Practices" for restoring a backup, and wasn't sure if you mentioned that the order was important (and I was too lazy to search). Ok, now that my run-on sentence is finished...speaking of restoring backups, does the restoration of the *registry* take an extra long time? I ask this because I'm about 1 for 10 in successfully restoring. I've taken to restoring all of the files first, then soft-resetting and restoring the registry. That's worked for me more often than not.

Also, for anyone reading this thread, I'm going to try to work on releasing a new beta of SMSPro. I know this has nothing to do with this thread, but I need to balance the suckage of my initial post...

Registry or email all take a while. I've never tried to separate them

    Ehud,
Do you mean if we use Sprite Backup, don't use Perm Save?
I've been using it, but if I don't need to, then I certainly won't.

I'm sure if you read my postings on the subject you'll go back and edit your post, and quickly, so as not to mislead newbies.

I don't use Permanent Save because it takes too long after a soft reset. I use Sprite Backup to do a total backup and have done many total restores, which put everything back and worked perfectly. Don't see the need to use Perm Save. I could be missing something though...
