    1.36 ROM upgrade failed, Now what?

    I've had my 6600WOC for 3 days to solve some of the bugs and I was upgrading from 1.35 to 1.36 when at 99% complete of Stage 2: Upgrading Extended ROM the software locked up. I rebooted my computer and tried again and the same thing happened. The 6600 is now unresponsive and does not turn on (its a brick). Does anyone have something to try. Hard resets don't work. I think the upgrade software has a bug in it or there is something wrong with my computer (Windows98 SE). Has anyone else successfully performed the upgrade from the Audiovox site using:

    javascript:window.open('/downloads/HA_VZW_136_117_01151_SHIP.exe','new_window','height=400,width=500,scrollbars=yes, resizable=yes, status=yes');void('');

    Thanks for any help

    Download the upgrade from www.myehud.com

    YOur 6600 is probably turning on, having NO backlight (which makes it tough to read) and saying "Serial 1.0" or "USB 1.0" when cradled?

    If so, redo the upgrade with the new file. Sounds to me like something got corrupted in transfer.

    I got 99% into stage 3 (CE ROM update) and then had to reboot my PC but the hard reset worked on the 6600 and it appears to be working. It says that I have v1.36 but how do I know that it is for sure and not the previous v1.35 or even partial operational v1.36?

    Too funny. I was one of the people who did precisely what everything told me not to do. Luckily, it's not REALLY a brick.

    So, although I was scared during the process (and they routinely tell you NOT to do it if you're scared), I figured it would be worth listening to all the tunes from Yahoo Music Unlimited on the 6600.

    It works just like the 6700 now. (I returned it) Happy happy for a lot less money.

    It really WON'T turn your phone into a brick.

    We have since learned to just redo the upgrade procedure and it will work fine.

    It happened to me on my FIRST upgrade. It was late at night, I was in Memphis, TN on business for a week and needed my phone.
    No other option but to apply update again, and it worked!
