    Click start -> Settings -> Phone -> Services

    Choose Roaming in the list then click get settings and make sure it is set to Automatic. That way, if you don't get a Sprint signal, it will try to pick it up.
    PDA Phone History:
    Toshiba 2032SP (2003-2005) -> Hitachi G1000 (2005) -> PPC-6600 (2005-2006) -> PPC-6700 (2006 - 8 days to be exact) -> Treo 700wx

    Call Sprint, ask the rep to flag your account for PRL update. If they give you trouble ask to be transferred to Data Support Tier 2 and ask them. Once that is done, wait a few minutes and call *2 from the phone. It will perform the upgrade for you.

    First you figure out if you have a PPC6600 (Sprint), or XV6600 (Verizon). If Verizon, just dial *228 and press 2 when prompted.

    <B>Nevermind, I'm stupid, Daaaaeeeeeeeeee... I read Audiovox PPC6600 and thought I was reading Verizon PPC6600. DUH!

    His phone was identified in his post as the PPC6600. The replies prior to yours recognized this.

    option 1: call sprint, ask to be flagged for a prl update. Call back in 20 minutes or so and it will update automatically.

    option 2: put the xxxxx.prl file in you my documents folder. enter ##PRL# on the phone application keypad. Enter the MSL when prompted. Browse to the xxxxx.prl file. open it. restart the phone.

    I could have sworn that there was a code you could dial and it would call sprint and update your phone w/ the latest PRL... Did they remove that?

    You must convince sprint to flag your phone for an update before you can start it. Which means that half the time it will be done quickly and politely and half the time you will have to spend 10 minutes explaining what a prl is and why you would want to be flagged for it, what being flagged means and how the process should work only to have it done impropperly in the end and be forced to call back and face the same odds a second time. : )

    I really wish it was easier to obtain the .prl files. I would love it if sprint allowed us to upgrade them on our own. Unfortunately the only one i have handy is the 10026.prl which is relatively old.

    I always just send an email from my account on the desktop. I usually get an email back in about an hour that I've been flagged and then call CS. Painless. - sheureka
    Do good. Be kind. Have fun.
