    Smile Gurus...in windows/startup folder are these >

programs necessary.....CheckAutoRun...ChgDfLnk...PerSaveStar. And what the heck do each of these do?

What is the purpose of ClientShell and what does it do?

I'm trying to limit my system resources drain and so I don't get the "spinning circle o death" or the " not enough memory" or "Critical component missing" when I try to open ANY program after it has been in use for a while.

I think Pocket Informant put my system over the edge.

CheckAutoRun - Trys to autorun (autoplay) a SD card when inserted

PerSaveStar - Has to do with the backup app that came with our devices...can't remember the name cause i removed it

What happens when you turn off Clientshell and or CheckAuto Run?
I assume I won't have the push e-mail function then with clientshell excluded thru SPB PP close button.

If I remove CheckAutoRun will there be SD reading issues?

And by the way gentlemen.....thank you very much for replying!!! Very cool!

PS: I read that link and tons of others but no one has explained what they do or what happens when you remove them. I'm doin the homework!

OK I found this link http://srvsys.com/~pph/forums/showth...&postid=330109 that says...

These are what I have deduced from Google sources etc.

    * PerSaveStar - Only needed if you use the permanent save feature
    * TextMessagesRetry - Redelivers text messages if you were out of signal area when you sent it.
    * CheckAutoRun - Runs Autorun.exe found on storage cards (possibly extended rom too?)
    * BTTrayCE - Puts Bluetooth icon in the tray bar, not neccessarily needed, you can use the connections applet in system
    * poutlook - Something to do with Pocket Excel and Pocket Word (I removed it and stored it in storage just in case I see a problem in the future, actually you should save them all somewhere else)
    * IA_CID_Startup - Caller ID (havent tried removing yet)
    * ChgDfLnk - Still not sure, I removed it and havent seen any changes.
