How do I use the cellular network when cradled w/ Activesync?

How do I use the cellular network when cradled w/ Activesync?

I want to bypass using my computers Internet connection and use the cellular (sprint) for surfing on the PPC66XX only.

I've been doing searches and could not find this.

Thanks to anyone that can help in advance!

There was a thread on this a month or so. Try poking around with the "Select Network" button w/in the advanced network connections. If you have problems, search on network connections and advanced settings and you should be able to find the other thread.

I think it can be done, but I've never tried. If you can do it, it should be in the select networks stuff.

so just so I understand, you want to browse on your 6600 while it is cradled?

are you cradling it because it needs to charge?

No, it's in it's cradle to sync via intellisysnc and activesync as well as control via Pocket Controller.

I want to be able to browse the internet and use internet radio (streams, sirius, etc.)

I was doing this before I updated to 2.03, I not sure if it was just a config setting or a reg hack....

I've tried idea one to no avail...

    Activesync
    Options
    Connection: change to "Work"

The PPC will therefore use the CDMA network to connect to "The Internet".

Is this at the PPC or the Workstation?

I cannot find this "Connection" option.

It's on the Wireless Sync main screen. The little picture of the PC hooked up to a server on the bottom - to the right of "View"

Edited ActiveSync to say Wireless Sync. Sorry.

Did you try cradling your ppc first?

    On the workstation.

Only one connection will be allowed at a given time. So if you are in an activeync session you won't be able to get a cdma session.

I'm using 3.8.0, main options does not have this!

This can be done, I used to do it before the 2.03 upgrade, that was the only change I made.

I did this to so that I can use MP10 for sirius now I cannot surf to sirius so MP10 does me no GOOD!

Damn if I could go back!

Arrrgh! My apologies. I meant to say the Wireless Sync main screen. I was reloading the 1.36 ROM on my phone this morning and got distracted.

I don't know how to post the picture so that it displays in the post, but I'm talking about Wireless Sync's main screen - on the PPC.

I've posted it here as an attachment.

(How do you insert a picture in the post anyway??)

OK. Before you flame me, (which I'd deserve at this point) let me flame myself.

I'm an idiot. That does you no good. You clearly identified yourself as being Sprint, therefore Wireless Sync (being a Verizon product) would have no application for you.

Is there a similar feature w/in the equivalent Sprint product?

I will shut up now, and go back to bed or something.

I don't get why your "Options" is greyed out.

OH WAIT. You know what, I have mine syncd as "Guest" at all times...

I'd just like to ask WHY you would want to do this since the Active Sync provides internet connectivity via your PC at much faster speeds?

If your cradled connection to the internet is a AutoConfig proxy and your company doesn't allow connections to POP or IMAP servers.

That's why I use this functionality.

Do you have a PPC or a VX?

I am not sure what HE has, but I have a VX and would like to do the same. So far, nothing above has worked for me.

Try docking as "guest" and follow what I posted.

It DOES work for me. I'm not sure why, since That_Kid said it shouldn't, and he's right 100% of the time... so maybe I'll test some more on Monday...
