    Charging Lockup During Night

I did a search ... couldn't find anything on point ... but I seem to remember when I had my first xv6600 (destroyed in a motorcycle accident) there where issues with the unit locking up during the night while on the charger.

I've started having these issues after having this new phone since early Oct 05 ... early Jan 06 ... I did a hard reset and loaded one program every other day allowing the phone to sit on the charger for at least 48 hours (using my I730) during this test ... after weeks of doing this ... all software is back on the phone with no lockups ... so ... I started using it again ... after 6 days of rock solid use ... last night it locked up ...

Here are the symptoms .... it will go days of charging all night .. sprite backup at 3am ... no problems ... then it will lock up ... the spb battery bar will be at about 40-60% ... after a soft reset .. the batter is almost dead ... really stinks when you need to grab it and go off the charger and it doesn't have a charge ... I've started using the standard battery at night ... and leaving the 2400 Lion on the charger out of the phone ... I still get a lockup about every 2-4 nights ... but the 2400 is fully charged so it's not an issue ... it never does it while on a trip (I take the car charger and use an adapter in the hotel) I have three different cradles and chargers ... I've tried all possible combinations ... nada ...

I do remember something like this in threads a long time ago .. but I've been unable to find those threads ... does anyone know if there was ever a fix for this found??? Or an offending program??

Thanks in advance for any help

Disable activesync and see if it still happens. It is hard to tell from your post, but kind of sounds like the main difference between home and away is connection to a PC overnight.

Just in the form of an update

Okay ... I disconnected the activesync last night ... poof .. locked up during the night

So ... I went back and looked at my notes on when and where apps where loaded ... the last app I loaded was pocket breeze ... so ... I went and did another hard reset ... loaded only those apps I really need ... aol ... eReader ... HanDbase ... Info2Go ... loud ringers ... loud reminders ... couple of skins ... and of course Sprite backup ... instead of loading pocket breeze .. which I happen to love ... I loaded a very tiny app called Calc Plus ... which will work if it is Pocket breeze ... I left the phone on the charger all day with a battery that was partially drained ... tonight ... still going strong ... fully charged .. no lockup ... the true test will be when Sprite does the backup at 3am ... although I did have it do an auto back up at 3pm today and that worked fine ... I think I have it narrowed down to pocket breeze ... anyone else having issues with this version (4.31) ... maybe I should load the newer version and try that ... just a thought

Something else to consider is how clean is the electricity that your charger is plugged into? If you're getting spikes or drops that could potentially send your PPC into a lockup at random.

Might also explain no lockups while on the road. If you don't have this plugged into a UPS (not a surge strip, something with a battery in it) you might try that and see if maybe you have "dirty" power,a faulty outlet or bad wiring.

Well ... I've come to the conclusion that its the Pocket Breeze 4.31 causing the problems its been on the charger since Sunday morning and no problems without pocket breeze maybe too soon to tell ... but I think its once again stable ... pockets breeze was indeed the last program installed before the locking started.

    Solved

Well ... after a day of rock solid performance ... I discovered I hadn't loaded phone dashboard ... so .. figuring it was pocket breeze ... I loaded it ... poof ... first time it was on the charger it locked up ... so I removed phone dashboard and it remained stable ... put it back on ... lock up ... so ... I left it off ... I reinstalled pocket breeze and it hasn't locked up on the charger since ... so resets ... except the one sprite does ... all is well that ends well ... hope this info helps another ... this liked to drive me crazzy

I sometimes get lockups at night, where the phone's screen is stuck on. I reduced it a lot by removing the weather application. I'm pretty sure it occurred when it tried to dial up to sprint's vision service.
