Angry hard reset with phone button

    Hello,

Today my PPC has twice done a hard reset when I press the green phone button… first when I was answering a call, the second time just after I had set everything back up and was trying to make a call. As well, and maybe this will be a reminder to some others, turns out when I am just using the Bluetooth to sync, and never actually at my computer when it syncs, I never do the backup. With my PPC-5050 I backed up every time I did a sync, foolishly not once had I with this device so it was a full shift of reinstalling and reconfiguring things… too bad for me, but maybe a reminder to some of you to have good backups (oh yeah, and then SD backup wouldn’t restore for some reason).

Any guesses on what’s going on? I have had this PPC for a few months now and haven’t had any other problems. There have been no changes to the device lately (other then daily sync from my PC) and I am very confused as to what’s going on. My service is through Bell, here in Canada, and I have not done any upgrades/patches to the device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Tyler

    Exclamation Update

I walked away… thought about it, then realized the second hard reset was actually the very next time I pressed the green phone button (hardware). The other calls I had made and answered were with the phone program and software buttons… anyway the point is I picked up my device, pressed the green button again, and once again it did a full hard reset. Once it finished the reset, I pressed it again, and it again reset.

So how could my phone button be setup to do a hard reset, even after the hard reset has taken place?

    Thanks,
    Tyler

There is no way to configure the green send or red end buttons on these phones ... my guess is that something is shorted and causes the reset when the green button is pressed ... hopefully you have the insurance or it is still under warantee ... I think it's time to get a replacement

Yup, my wife's second 6600 had this problem. Bizarre isn't it? Anyway, she took it back to Verizon and they replaced it for her.

Bell was really good with mine as well. It took twice as long as they said it would, but it was just about 2 weeks and then I had a new one... and that was after my having the first one for 4 months... no real questions asked either, I just took it in, pressed the green button.. it hard reset and they brought a new one in... I still have no idea how that problem just created its self, but it's good to get a new one.

    Thanks for the replies everyone!
