Does anybody sell a replacement case/shell for the 6600?

I scoured Google and couldn't find anything relevant to my search. I want to replace the whole front face to be black for example.

    Any ideas where to look?

    no luck as of yet

Unfortunatly your not the only person lookin for this. Ive been looking aswell but, not the silver cdma housing in specific. Im looking for the non cdma black housing. So far no good. http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~un...Parts+Only.htm sells parts for the phone but unfortunatly the casings they have are from the silver sprint ppc-6600 model. It seems that our only choice at the moment would be to get one of the non cdma model n just switch out the parts. If i come across anything ill be sure to let you know. That option is a lil to expensive for my taste. =P

If your an Ebay shopper..... http://cgi.ebay.ie/HTC-Blue-Angel-o2...QQcmdZViewItem I myself would rather try n find a parts seller for the phone. if i come across anything, I'll keep you posted, but there is always Ebay lol, just do a search for blue angel part if the auctions on that link are closed. That is for the black housing atleast. If its another silver your lookin for, the link above this post is the place to go.

Well.... you could get the silver one, lightly sand it, and using a very fine spray paint, paint it black.

PC modders use this all the time for cdrom bezels, etc.

It couldn't hurt to try anyways, beats the crap out of spending tons of money just to have a black face.

    another option i happened to come across while doing my rounds. http://www.skinit.com/item--Qtek-9090--pdqt0002.html sells custom vinyl skins for the harrier. 10$ not bad, not exactly what im looking for but, its also an option. choose from there stylings or send them a pic fo your own custom skin. options are nice =}

    That's definitely an interesting alternative.

I played around on the site, but it doesn't give you a preview of the skin on the phone. I was hoping for at least a low quality preview.

    Oh well.

If you buy a separate housing for your ppc6600, you could paint it with "Krylon Fusion Paint"

I haven't tried to paint my phone yet, but i'm lookin forward to it. I wish these guys at smooth-creations.com could paint my PPC tho!!

    (from http://www.peachpit.com/articles/art...69463&seqNum=3)

You'll first need a few items for this project:

    Masking tape

    Model paint (specifically for plastics)

    Plastic-model filler

    400-grit sandpaper

    Dishwashing soap

Here are some tips specifically for painting cell phone covers:

Completely disassemble the phone. Paint and its fumes can damage the sensitive electronics. Carefully mask off any areas you don't want painted.

Use a paint that's designed for models. This paint is intended for use with plastics and will be the easiest to work with. Krylon Fusion works very well.

Preparation is the key to a good finish. Use plastic-model filler to fill in any nicks or areas you want smoothed out. Sand the cover with a 400-grit sandpaper and wash it thoroughly. Use dishwashing soap or a plastic cleaner that leaves no residue.

When painting, put the spray can in a bowl of warm water (not boiling) for a few minutes. This will help the paint atomize better.

Let the paint dry for at least 48 hours before using the cover. The longer you allow it to dry the better. Before the paint is fully cured, it is still soft and prone to damage. Total curing times vary. Most of the time it takes 30–60 days, but the phone is perfectly useable within that time..

Or.... you can log on to PCApex.com and ask any of the PC modders to do it for you. I'd bet you money that you can find someone to do it for little or nothing.

I think I'll ask one of them to mod my old phone to see how it turns out (V730).

If you go there, tell 'em Splitter sent ya....
