Send Email through SMS on your i700 !!!!

OK, mine works on Alltel's network this way, and I am quite sure this is a standard that will work on Verizon too. It took me a while to dig this method up

Go to the send SMS screen 1st...

    1) Tools...Send SMS (from phone screen)

    2) In the "To" field enter the numbers 6245

    3) "Subj" field needs to be empty...

    4) In the BODY of the message, put the email address in that you want to email the message to, followed by a "space" and then enter the text of the email you wish to send.

    5) Click on the SEND button and your email should go through!

    Too cool!
I found that I couldn't put anything in the Subject line, though... it gave me an error..

But with the Subject line blank, it works like a charm!

    Thanks!

Nice find shawn, I was looking for that code. Since it's outlook it does try and screw it up a bit. You can put the address in the subject line but have to make sure you put a space after it, you can also send to multiple reciepent by following each address with a coma. It stil puts a / in the msg. Im trying to find the format that its looking at.

    dave,

    I made a mistake...you can't put a subject in the subject line.

I finally found one of our SMS network engineers that knew what he was talking about...

Of course the 6245 directs the message to go to an email address...

After the system sees the 6245 it takes the next text in line and uses that as the "Send To" email address. The space after the email address indicates the start of the message body.

    Thumbs up

Shawn...you are a lifesaver. This SMS sending e-mails thing was one of my top 10 issues since my old phone worked fine for sending e-mail through SMS. Now I can use my SMS messages instead of my minutes.

    Thanks again

I'm sure the character limit still applies.

I finally discovered the format of SMS to internet email after messing around and trying all the ASCII characters. You use the () to separate the subject from the body.

    TO: 6245
    SUBJECT: <blank>
    BODY:
    email@isp.com (subject) text message

    Example:

    Sender would type:

    TO: 6245
    SUBJECT:
    BODY:
joesmith@isp.com (This is too cool) Check this out!! This is working like a charm

    Receiver will get:

    FROM: phonenumber/user@vtext.com
    TO: joesmith@isp.com
    SUBJECT: This is too cool
    -------------------------------------------------
Check this out!! This is working like a charm

Just tried it and it worked for me. I don't have an i700 anymore (I have a XV6600), but that shouldn't matter. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly like TheCrow's entry above.

Yes, that should work. Are you sure it is a complete working email address? Do you have signal in your area? You are not roaming, right? You are working from the SMS/Text message account, not a different email account, right?

Sorry these are simple questions, but sometimes there is a simple solution...
