    windows mobile 6.1

When wm 6.1 gets released and we have nothing official, any cookers out there willing to help give us this update for our i760 please?

Just look how nice the default homepage looks and all the niceties it comes with. I hear the built in threaded SMS can't hold a candle to the palm one but the other features are pretty nice.

Going from 6.0 to 6.1 seems like an update released by Microsoft for teh general public.

    X2

compared to all the good work going on over at XDA i don't think this update will provide anything substantial.

Guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but to let you know even if there is a cooked WM6.1 out there, the chances of it working on a Samsung is very little....

If you had a xv6700 you know there is a bootloader mode....I don't think Samsung even has this!!! Considering our ROMS are locked (meaning you can't really screw things up even if you try) the chances of loading another OS on the i760 is going to be very slim

Sorry to break it to you...but if your truly looking to make custom ROMS, and tweak the hell out of your phone, your probably better off with a xv6800

Exactly... I think it's a strong possibility we'll be able to do this minor update. This won't be a Samsung/ROM update, but rather a minor software update done through "Windows Update".

Based on Negative Nancy's comments earlier... i760 won't get WM7.

    6.0 to 6.1? I think it's possible.

well I thought maybe Samsung might release something? After all this update does fix some of the issues the phone has and the nicer updated interface.

Seems some are suggesting 6.1 will have different features based on the device. Makes sense, but I want it ALL.. . bwahahahaha Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard in 100 pictures | The Boy Genius Report

Rather ignorant on this, but curious about the "bootloader" question.

If one reboots the i760 while the USB cable is plugged in, there is another "USB Device" type that shows up during the reboot - just like the i730 did.

On the i730, that was where the ROM got reinstalled for WM5.

Isn't that the same thing on the i760?

AFAIK, mrailing and superdave got enough donations for an i760.

On a side note... anybody see this Windows Mobile 6.1: Windows Mobile 6.1 Homebrew ROM For Sprint Mogul.
Looks promising, maybe we'll get a similar update Although doubtful.

I know some people who CAN do it but won't because it's too much work from what they've told me..Maybe the key to the SCH-i730 getting WM6 and you guys getting WM6.1 and or both of us getting WM6.1 is to find someone who actually either goes to the forum or even outside of it that either wants to do it, and or CAN do it but maybe wants to get paid for their 30-40 hrs of work or so in getting it done via our donations?? Just an idea..While I have heard of donations for getting i730s, i760s, which is cool, for some reason I have not heard anyone suggesting donations for WM6 and or WM6.1 cooking since xda doesn't love us Samsung iXXX peeps. Their i760 forum (the one at PPCGeeks..though I can't remember if someone opened one at xda too) alone is like a walk with tumble weeds..

What I have seen WM6.1 has a new version of IE. It similar to MS Deepfish browser. Would really like to try it out.
