Can i replace contacts with just Icontacts?

ok this is what i am trying to do ....
    i dloaded icontacts from
FreewarePPC.com - Freeware Pocket PC / Freeware Windows Mobile: iContact v0.5
i can load it to phone no prob
but for me to use it i have to click on the icon(via file manager) that i have not learned how to put on desktop yet
i would like to just replace the standard contacts with that
    is it possible?

I don't believe icontacts replaces the the built-in contacts. It interfaces to the built-in contacts database to provide better views and other capabilities.

To provide an icon on the desktop, you will need a shell today plugin. There are commercial and freeware available. I use iLauncher.

Or you can redirect the left softkey to it. Mine points to Pocket Informant. Or any of the other buttons. - Start-Settings-buttons
Been there. Done that. Can't remember.

I believe icontacts is an executable; therefore with Settings->Today->SoftKey you should be able to see it in the combo box.

Make sure Icontacts (or a shortcut) exists in the \windows\Start Menu\Programs folder on the phone and then it should be available in the list for configuring the left soft key... you could also use AE Button Plus for more configuration options.
I don't think I contacts in its current version can be configured to be the default contacts display. Even if you put the setting in the registry I don't think the author has programed it to be able to accept contact queries from other applications. Maybe in a later version.
