    Wake up without sliding?

    Hi everyone:
New to the phone and the forum since a few days ago.
    Sure have learned alot.

My question is, when the phone goes to sleep, the only way I can
manually wake it is to slide the keyboard. (yes it still receives calls and messages and alarms). Want to wake it with a button push of some kind
with it closed. Searched and searched and experimented with no results.
Is there a setting somewhere I am missing?
Brand new 760 as of 3/24/09 with 6.1

    Thanks
    John

The recessed button on the top of the unit doesn't do this for you? If you haven't found this 'button' yet you should look at the phone with the screen facing you. On the top of the unit by the right corner you will see a recessed button. That should sleep/wake the phone for you.

If that doesn't work you might have the dreaded 'phone doesn't wake up' issue.

Ah yes the ON/OFF switch. (it does work)
The only one I didn't try.
Figured it would just turn off the unit.
Still, some key stroke of any kind sure would be nice.
Is this a Samsung or VZW glitch?

    Thanks

No glitch... just the way this model works... It drove me crazy when I first got it, but I put one of those little jewel bling things on it and it gives it just enough of a bump to make it easier to find, but not too much to cause anything to turn it on.

Also, if you hold it down for a second or two it will soft reset...

    I think that's what it's doing.

    *edit:

    Also here's a thread:
Easier ways to turn 760 on ?

i don't know why this topic makes me think of this but..

Can anyone lead me to a thread with information on disabling the auto screen re-orientation from landscape to portrait when the keyboard slides closed?
