    USB -Serial connectors?

I'm going to be upgrading my Mac to a new USB iMac and need a serial/USB connector. I believe I read on this Forum that the i300 cannot be synched through a serial/USB hub but only via a dedicated connector. Is this true? And if so, what kind of connector do I need and where do I find it? Sorry if this request is too basic for some of you I300 power callers. Thanks in advance for any assistance.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Palm has a USB adaptor that works with the iMac. I personally had a little bit of trouble early on, but that has more to do with the USB hub that I was using and not the Palm Serial/USB adaptor.

The Palm Serial/USB adaptor isn't powered (I.E. it doesn't have a power supply of its own, and relies on the power of the USB hub). As a result, it can draw a lot of juice when connected. If you have it plugged into a cheapo hub that doesn't have a good power supply of its own, the iMac wont recognize it.

Your two options are to either plug the Palm Serial/USB connector directly into one of the iMac's own USB connector jacks. or to buy a good USB hub that has enough juice to power all of the ports.

I don't have any suggestions on who has a good USB hub for you to go after, maybe others in this forum might have a pointer or two.

I am looking to do the same with my G4, and iBook. Currently I have been backing up contacts by beaming the address database to my Visor Prizm, and performing a HotSync via the Prizm USB. Lengthy, and not nearly effective enough.

    Palm recharging HotSync USB cable

Has anyone tried this connector to avoid using that palm serial USB adaptor? Looks like it could fit the phone.

has anyone been able to get the Palm USB Connect to work with the i300 Data Cable, an i300 and windows XP Home? I've been pulling my hair out trying to get this to work. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Nick
