Digital Roam unable to power off

Yesterday I found my phone in Digital Roam mode, and consequently unable to send or receive data.
When I tried to turn the phone off to hopefully relog onto the Sprint network. The phone wqould not shut off, and stayed that way until I left the house and got back onto the Sprint network. Is this normal?

I haven't noticed that behaviour myself before. Next time try a soft reset (unscrew the tip from the stylus and stick the pointy bit in the little hole on the bottom right of the keypad - directly underneath the # key)
I gave up on the free ipod. And where'd my smilies go?

if you take the battery out, shut off the phone first, or you might get a FSOD on reinstalling the battery.
    That'sssssssss all folks!

    Unable to shut off

    Hi Blazer,

That's the problem. I can't turn the phone off when I'm in digital (and I'm assuming Analog) Roam. I think I'm just going to have to wait until I'm back on the Sprint Network.

the problem you may be having is that while in digital roam the data bars may stop you from powering off the phone, try setting your prefs to analog only and then try powering off the phone.
