How can I print from my Thera?

Not having a print option has to be one of the top ten goofs that Microsoft did on the Pocket PC. When you think of printing, its HP that comes to mind. This is a great solution, and its FREE from HP!

    Not your typical printing experience...
The Pocket PC print experience does not follow the typical desktop print experience (i.e. File Print). Printing is accomplished through the hp mobile printing standalone software application. The user must tap on Start hp Mobile Printing to wirelessly print files and email messages (including attachments) from your Pocket PC to Bluetooth, Infrared, network and shared printers. The following shows the print experience using the hp mobile printing for pocket pc application

    Exceptions...
Although typically Pocket PC applications do not have a print menu option available, there are 4 exceptions: Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Westtek® viewers. These Pocket PC applications have a built-in Print menu option

    Print Quality...
Due to memory and other constraints of the Pocket PC operating system, print quality may not be as good as printing from a desktop PC. In general, the document printing process is intended to give the end user WSYWIG (what you see is what you get) functionality from the viewer. However, fonts substitutions may occur, resolution may be reduced, PowerPoint slides will print "2-up" and complex graphics may not print correctly.

Additional functionality is available with HP Mobile Enterprise Printing (MEP) solution. MEP is a server software solution that enables users to print from a PDA to printers on the corporate network with print quality and performance similar to printing from a desktop PC. The MEP server provides document processing capability not available on a Pocket PC, resulting in better print quality. MEP is currently available in the US only.

    Another solution to the printing...
ATSONIC sweetPRINT will allow you to print to any Fax machine from your Pocket PC Phone Edition. The program relies on an internet based service (free) to deliver the fax, and can print virtually any file on the Pocket PC. For more information, visit the ATSONIC site.
