Yet another reference from Sprint re: 650 as a BT modem

From the Washington Post, via Yahoo! News:
Rob Pegoraro: (Article entitled: PalmOne's Treo 650: Hybrid Phones Keep Getting Smarter) But the single most useful application of Bluetooth -- linking the phone to a Bluetooth-compatible laptop, allowing you to go online anywhere wireless coverage is available -- isn't available. Sprint says it had meant to include this feature, but had to leave it out "due to lack of time for testing and quality control," said Lisa Ihde, a spokeswoman who said it would be added in "an upcoming maintenance release."

Bluetooth DUN (dial-up networking, what the article is referring to) has been enabled on the Sprint Treo 650. You simply install a patch available from the 650 discussion board at treocentral and you will be set. This functionality was on the device the whole time, Sprint simply hid it and a programmer went in and unhid it.
