Question Audio adapter from Keyo 7135

Is there any problem using the Kyocera 7135 audio adapter (I have one made by Cool Cat) with the Treo 650?

    Thanks!

That adapter is for the 7135, not the Treo 650. You can purchase the proper adapter from PalmOne or from any number of online vendors or ebay. Should be about $5 plus shipping.

Yes, I know that I can get a 650 specific one. But I'm wondering if anybody knows what the difference is between the 7135 and 650 adapters and does it matter when using 7135 on 650. When I plug the 7135 into 650 it seem to work without a hitch. Does anybody know what the difference is and does it matter? Just wondering.

It may very well be perfectly compatible with the 650 but after spending a couple of hundred on your new Treo, I wouldn't take the chance and just go ahead and spend the extra $5 to get the Treo specific adapter.

Yup, - quite a reasonable comment however it is somewhat off the subject. I would like to know if there is a difference and if there is than what is it.

The audio adapter for the 7135 does NOT work on the 650. They are the same size, but the distance between the "circuits" is different. I tried mine. Some worked a little with no stereo sound. Others didn't work at all. You will have to buy new ones.

    They are physically different.
    Kyocera 7135 has a 2.5mm 4-ring jack.
    Treo 650 has a 2.5mm 3-ring jack, sam as Treo 600.

    So they are not compatible.

I just went to a Radio Shack, bought a 2.5mm plug, and a set of headphones. I cut the 1/8" plug off the headphones, and soldered the new 2.5mm plug on. I had to make a slight modification to the plastic housing for the 2.5mm plug so it would fit the recess on the T650.
