    Treo 650 world phone unlocked

What exactly does this mean? You have your home carrier but you can travel outside of you coverage area by poping in different sim cards? And unlocked? Does that mean you can take it and hook it up with any GSM carrier? I would just call and ask palm one these questions (if I wanted to be on the phone for 30 minutes and get maybey answers).

    Here is palm ones advert.

If you are a world-traveler who needs to be able to swap your SIM between countries, or just want to use your phone in the US with your current GSM service plan, we now have a Treo 650 smartphone for you. You can purchase an unlocked GSM Treo 650 smartphone direct from palmOne.com for $699.

So whether you're traveling around the corner or around the world, you'll be able to carry all the essentials with you -- right in your pocket.

It means you can put any SIM from any GSM carrier from just about anywhere and the phone will work on that carrier's network. Often, a carrier will "lock" the phone so that only SIMs from that carrier will work in that particular phone. The Treo 650 sold by Cingular, for example, will only work with Cingular SIMs and thus that 650 is "locked."

So you would buy or rent a sim card from say a carrier in Liechtenstein and you would pay that carrier during the time you used service in their area?
And you could take the unlocked phone and use it with a GSM carrier if that carrier didnt sell 650s?

Off course you'll get new ph# in Liechtenstein (whereever that is ^_^ ), so you may not get calls from your friends who don't know the new#.

And you know you can buy Cingular subsidied locked phone, and ask for the unlock code, don't you?
(or at least a lot of ppl claimed)

    Unlock 650
